The EX4600-EM-8F is an expansion module from Jupiter Networks that is used to add eight 10-Gigabit SFP+ ports or eight 1-Gigabit SFP ports to the manufacturers Ethernet switches. The module is environment friendly and is RoHS and WEEE compliant. The product weighs 1.5 lbs. and has a size of 13.1 x 8 x 5.9 inches. It can be hot-removed or hot-inserted based on requirement. The expansion module has an ST LED on its panel to indicate the operating status. The LED lights up in green color when the module is functioning as intended and remains off when the module is offline. The product supports replacement and removal without turning off the associated switch. The module installation must be done only after taking precautionary measures to avoid ESD damage. The expansion module features captive screws on its front panel that should be loosened using a screwdriver for its installation. The product is installed in its slot by sliding it gently using both hands. The module associated Ethernet switches are used in data center top-of-rack environments of low density. The expansion module may cause the interface to go down temporarily when it is used as a substitute for the default expansion module in an EX4600 Ethernet switch.
