The Hirschmann SPIDER 4TX/1FX EEC Switch is an unmanaged industrial Ethernet switch with an extended operating temperature range. It is installed on a DIN rail. Hirschmann recommends installing the device inside a switch cabinet with fire protection features according to the IEC 60950-1 standards. Whereas the standard SPIDER 4TX/1FX Switch has an operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius, the SPIDER 4TX/1FX EEC Switch has an extended operating temperature range of -40 to 70 degrees Celsius. The storage temperature range for the switch is also  -40 to 70 degrees Celsius. The SPIDER 4TX/1FX EEC Switch should be protected from condensation and 10 to 95% non-condensing relative humidity should be maintained at the location where it is installed. The switch weighs 120 grams and measures 25 x 114 x 79 millimeters. The environmental protection rating of the switch housing is IP 30. 

The Hirschmann SPIDER 4TX/1FX EEC Switch supports the store and forward Ethernet switching modes. There are a total of 5 ports on the switch. One port supports multimode fiber cables and 4 ports support twisted pair cables. The copper ports with the RJ-45 interface support 10/100 Mbps data rates and the fiber port supports only a 100 Mbps data rate. The copper ports with an RJ-45 interface support auto-polarity, auto-crossing, and auto-negotiation. The physical interface for the multimode fiber port is the ST interface. The Ethernet ports on the SPIDER 4TX/1FX EEC Switch can support any network topology. The maximum segment length supported by the copper ports is 100 meters and maximum segment length supported by the fiber port is 4000 or 5000 meters depending on the type of multimode fiber cable that is used.
