The SPIDER 3TX-TAP switch is a 3-port Hirschmann unmanaged switch. It is designed for industrial applications by Hirschmann, which is a Belden brand. Hirschmann manufactures network devices for industrial applications including DIN rail switches such as the SPIDER 3TX-TAP switch, rack mount switches, MPLS solutions, industrial wireless solutions, and industrial security and software solutions. The SPIDER product line includes several entry level unmanaged switches which mount on a DIN Rail. All 3 ports on the SPIDER 3TX-TAP switch are 10/100 Mbps ports with an RJ-45 interface. Network packets are forwarded by using the store and forward switching modes. Any network topology, including the line and star topology, can be used with the switch ports. Twisted pair network cables measuring 100 meters or 328 feet in length can be used with the switch.
The Hirschmann SPIDER 3TX-TAP switch requires DC input ranging from 9.6 to 32 Volts DC. At a nominal input of 24 Volts DC, the maximum current and power consumption ratings are 100 milliamps and 2.2 Watts, respectively. An operating SPIDER 3TX-TAP switch dissipates 7.5 BTU per hour of heat and it should be provided with the appropriate amount of clearance on all sides so that convection cooling can keep the ambient temperature at safe levels. The recommended environmental conditions for the SPIDER 3TX-TAP switch include a 0 to 60 degrees Celsius operating temperature range and a 10 to 95% non-condensing relative humidity range. The mechanical specifications for the switch include 113 grams weight and dimensions of 25 x 114 x 79 millimeters. Hirschmann recommends that only suitably trained technicians be involved in the installation, operation, and maintenance of the switch and associated network equipment.
