The M4-8TP-RJ45 module is a media module that has been designed and manufactured by Hirschmann and Belden as part of the rack mount switches, modules, and accessories product line. This media module is specifically designed to be compatible with the Hirschmann MACH4000 switches that can handle Ethernet communication speeds of 10/100/1000 Mbit/s with its BASE-TX ports. The M4-8TP-RJ45 media module is installed on a MACH4000 switch to provide the switch with additional Ethernet communication ports that will allow it to communicate with more devices than it can handle on its own. This media module will provide its host MACH4000 rack mount switch with 8 additional communication ports. These 8 ports are RJ45 sockets that use TP or twisted pair cables and that are rated for communication speeds of 10/100/1000 Mbit/s.

All 8 of the Ethernet ports on the Hirschmann and Belden M4-8TP-RJ45 media module support the auto-polarity, auto-negotiation, and auto-crossing functions. This media module consumes about 2 Watts of power during normal operation and it draws its operating power from the backplane of the Hirschmann MACH4000 switch that hosts it. The M4-8TP-RJ45 media module meets multiple industrial standards, including the cUL 508 standard for the safety of industrial control equipment, and the cUL 60950-1 standard for the safety of information technology equipment. The ambient operating temperature range for the M4-8TP-RJ45 media module is between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius or 32 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit. The storage temperature range for this media module is between -40 and 70 degrees Celsius or -40 and 158 degrees Fahrenheit.
