The Hirschmann BRS52-8TX/4SFP managed switch is a Bobcat series managed network switch. The eight 10/100/1000BASE-TX network ports on the switch support the IEEE 802.3at standards for PoE which supplies up to 30 Watts of power per network port. The power can be supplied over twisted pair network cables measuring up to 100 meters in length. The maximum switch power consumption rating is 253 Watts and it is consumed when all 8 PoE ports are providing the full 30 Watts of power to their connected hosts. The BRS52-8TX/4SFP managed switch operates on DC power and requires dual DC input at 48 Volts DC. The maximum heat dissipated by an operating BRS52-8TX/4SFP managed switch is 44 BTU per hour. In addition to the copper ports, this managed switch also has 4 slots which can accommodate fiber SFPs.

Both multi-mode and single-mode fiber SFPs can be installed in the BRS52-8TX/4SFP managed switch's fiber slots. The fiber SFP slots can be used with SFPs that support up to 2.5 Gbps data rates. The maximum link distances for the fiber ports will vary with the type of SFP that is used, and the single-mode SFPs will support longer communication distances than the multi-mode SFPs. The BRS52-8TX/4SFP managed switch can be used for the implementation of any network topology. The BRS52-8TX/4SFP managed switch is designed for a standard operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. The non-condensing relative humidity level around the switch should not exceed 95%. The switch housing is IP 30 rated and it measures 73 x 138 x 115 millimeters in dimensions. The approximate weight of the switch is 550 grams. The installation and operation of the switch should be performed by trained technicians.
