The Hirschmann BRS42-8TX/4SFP-EEC switch is a managed Ethernet switch with extended operating temperature range support. The protection class of the switch housing is IP 30. The switch housing is made of metal and it measures 123 x 140 x 115 millimeters. The storage temperature range of the BRS42-8TX/4SFP-EEC managed switch is -40 to 70 degrees Celsius. The non-condensing relative humidity level in the vicinity of an operating BRS42-8TX/4SFP-EEC switch should be maintained between 1 and 95%. The BRS42-8TX/4SFP-EEC managed switch is part of the Bobcat series from Hirschmann. This series of industrial Ethernet switches supports real-time communication through TSN. Another feature supported by the Bobcat series switches is expanded bandwidth capabilities for fiber ports which allow 1 to 2.5 Gigabit speeds without requiring any changes to the appliance. The switch mounts on a DIN Rail and it comes in a fanless design.

Four SFP slots and eight 10/100/1000BASE-TX ports are available on the Hirschmann BRS42-8TX/4SFP-EEC managed switch. The SFP slots can be used for single-mode and multi-mode fiber SFPs. The eight copper ports on the BRS42-8TX/4SFP-EEC managed switch each support up to 30 Watts of PoE power. The maximum power consumed by the switch is 252 Watts when each of the 8 copper ports is supplying 30 Watts of power over an Ethernet cable. The switch package contains one network switch, one safety and general information sheet, one terminal block for the power supply voltage and signal contact, one terminal block for the digital input, and two ferrites with a key. Accessories which can be ordered for the switch include an autoconfiguration adapter, a 6-pin terminal block with screw lock, a 2-pin terminal block with a screw lock, and the industrial HiVision network management software.
