The OCTOPUS 24M-Train switch is an industrial and heavy-duty Ethernet switch that has been designed and manufactured by Hirschmann. It is a member of the Hirschmann IP65/IP67 Switches & Routers series, and it is designed for safe and reliable operation over an extended period of time in applications such as oil rig applications, railroad applications, power plant applications, and various transportation applications. The OCTOPUS 24M-Train switch comes with an IP 65 or IP 67 rated enclosure for protection. The IP 65 and IP 67 enclosures are among the most durable industrial enclosures that are available. This switch does not come with a built-in bypass device for preventing complete power failures like some of the other Ethernet switches from the IP65/IP67 Switches & Routers series do.

The Hirschmann OCTOPUS 24M-Train heavy-duty Ethernet switch from the IP65/IP67 Switches & Routers series comes with 24 RJ 45 Ethernet communication ports. These 24 ports can be used as 10BASE-T ports or as 100BASE-TX ports for connecting the switch to terminal devices and Ethernet network segments. The OCTOPUS 24M-Train switch does not support PoE or Power over Ethernet. It also does not have any relay ports, which is why it does not support the bypass function that is available for some of the other OCTOPUS switches. The OCTOPUS 24M-Train switch weighs about 1.5 kilograms and its rated operating voltage range is from 24 to 48 Volts DC. The widest voltage range that this switch can support and which cannot be exceeded is from 9.6 to 60 Volts DC. The OCTOPUS 24M-Train switch can operate with an extended temperature range from -40 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit.
