WS-C3560X-48U-S is a standalone Ethernet switch for business-grade networks. It is a unique device that supports the UPOE (Universal Power over Ethernet technology) that can provide twice as much power to the connected devices compared to any other model in the industry. By using IP Base Cisco IOS, the switch performance has practically no malfunctions or errors since the firmware was developed specifically for the switch. The price of the switch is also democratic compared to the stackable analogs.
Power supply
This switch uses an 1100 W AC power supply as a source of energy. But the power consumption of the switch itself is about 300 W. Everything else is used to share the power to other connected devices. If you need more power, you can purchase an additional redundant 1100 W power supply and increase the power capacity of the switch.
Power Capacity
WS-C3560X-48U-S uses UPOE technology that allows the switch to power some of the equipment that is connected to it (for example, Cisco IP phones, Cisco Aironet® wireless LAN (WLAN)). Compared to PoE+ technology, this model can support 60W of power per port, instead of 30, so devices that need more power can be used, for example, VDI clients, IP turrets for financial trading. Using the switch to power other appliances makes the whole system perform better and save energy costs as the switch distributes the power only when the device is active. You will not need additional wires and connections too, just the Ethernet cable. If you install a second power supply, the switch can distribute up to 1800 W of electricity.
Configurations
This model comes as a standalone switch with 48 UPOE 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports, the whole switch to be installed in 1 rack unit (RU). An internal power supply will provide 1100 W power to the switch and its connections. The whole system is controlled via IP Base IOS that comes in the batch and allows for Layer 3 switching.
Stacking
This model comes in a standalone edition. It has cannot be assembled into a stack. If you need a stackable version of the same type, you can look up 3750 series of the same switch.
Tech specs
WS-C3560X-48U-S uses 256 MB DRAM and 64 MB Flash memory. Its forwarding rate is 101.2 mpps. Additionally, the switch can support up to 4000 IDs and 1000 VLAN users simultaneously. The dimensions of the switch are 1.75 x 17.5 x 19.5 inches (4.45 x 44.5 x 49.5 cm) and the weight is 16.7 pounds (7.6 kg).

Most datasheets and installation guides as well as the IOS can be downloaded from the Cisco Site. Hardware Network offers a warranty for most of the switches it sells. Additional information
This model of the switch is one of the modern solutions for enterprise-grade networks. Its end of sale (EOS) by Cisco was in 2016 but the end of life (EOL) is due in 2021, so it will be supported by Cisco for a long time.
